Chesterton Elementary School
San Diego, California
Description: Chesterton Elementary is undergoing a full campus rebuild, replacing all existing permanent and portable structures with a modern, student-centered learning environment.
The new design includes five buildings: administration, multipurpose/food service, a learning commons, and three classroom buildings organized by grade level—early education (UTK–K), primary (1st–2nd), and upper grades (3rd–5th). The new campus will feature 25 classrooms and 3 collaboration spaces, serving up to 611 students.
Site improvements include regrading, updated utilities, improved drainage, new parking and drop-off areas, play equipment, and designated service zones. A new transformer and stormwater systems will also be installed.
Once completed, the revitalized campus will offer an inclusive, collaborative, and future-ready environment tailored to today’s educational needs.
